TikTok UGC ad script template (15 and 30 seconds, second by second)
Updated October 2026
Most TikTok UGC ads that work follow the same shape: a hook in the first 2 seconds, a problem people recognise, the product solving it on camera, and one clear next step. The template below gives you that shape second by second, so you only fill in your product. Write three to five hooks for each script, because the hook is the part you will test most. If you'd rather not start from a blank page, the free UGC ad script generator linked below writes all of it from a product description.
Step by step
- Step 1
Use the 15-second template for your first tests
0–2s HOOK: a face or the product on screen and one short line ("Okay, my fingers are actually numb."). 2–5s PROBLEM: show the moment the problem happens, not a description of it. 5–11s PRODUCT IN USE: a close-up of the product doing its one main job, with one line about what it does ("One click, and it's warm in like ten seconds."). 11–13s RESULT: the person after, relieved or pleased. 13–15s NEXT STEP: one line or caption, such as "link's below" or "get yours before it's cold". Fifteen seconds is enough to test whether a hook and an angle work, and short ads are cheap to remake.
- Step 2
Use the 30-second template once a hook works
0–3s HOOK. 3–8s PROBLEM, shown in a real setting. 8–12s WHY THE USUAL FIX FAILS ("gloves don't work when you're on your phone"). 12–20s PRODUCT IN USE: two or three short shots of the main feature from different angles. 20–25s PROOF: a detail that makes it believable, such as how long the battery lasts, what it's made of, or what changed after a week. 25–30s NEXT STEP. The longer version gives room for one objection and one piece of proof, which helps for products that cost more or need explaining.
- Step 3
Write five hooks, one of each type
Question: "Why does nobody talk about how cold bus stops get?" Bold claim from your own facts: "Warm hands in ten seconds, no batteries to buy." Relatable pain: "My fingers go numb every single morning." Curiosity: "I didn't expect a ten-dollar thing to fix my commute." Social proof without made-up numbers: "My whole office asked where I got this." Keep each one under about 15 words and say it out loud: if it sounds like an ad, rewrite it like something a person would say to a friend.
- Step 4
Write it the way people talk on TikTok
Use first person and short spoken lines, not copywriting. One idea per shot. Show the product within the first 5 seconds; people should know what the ad is about before they decide to scroll. Put the key line on screen as a caption as well, since many people watch without sound, and keep captions in the middle of the frame, away from the username and buttons at the bottom and the right side.
- Step 5
Turn the script into a video
Each line of the script becomes one shot: who is in it, where they are, what they do with the product, the camera style and the line they say. In VIVID, paste the script or a one-line idea and the prompt enhancer turns it into a shot-by-shot description; add a product photo as a reference image so the video shows your real product. One generation is 5–15 seconds, so a 15-second ad is one clip, and a 30-second ad is two clips cut together in CapCut or any editor. Generate in 9:16.
- Step 6
Test hooks, keep the rest the same
Make three to five versions that differ only in the first 2–3 seconds and run them in the same ad group with the same budget. Judge them on how many people keep watching past the hook and on click-through rate before you judge them on sales. When one wins, keep its hook and test a new middle or a different proof line. If the video is AI-generated and looks realistic, turn on TikTok's AI-generated content disclosure when you create the ad.

Tips for testing
- Read every script out loud with a timer before you make the video. If it doesn't fit in 15 seconds spoken at a normal pace, cut words, don't speed up.
- Start with the problem moment, not with the product or a greeting. "Hey guys" wastes the two seconds that decide whether someone keeps watching.
- Only use claims you can back up. Don't invent reviews, numbers of customers or results; a fake testimonial is also against TikTok's ad policies.
- Seasonal versions are the easiest new angles: same product, new setting (first cold morning, holiday gift, back to school).
What it costs
With VIVID you pay per generation: a 5-second 480p clip is about $0.045–$0.10, a 15-second 720p clip about $0.45–$1.00, and an ad image about $0.015–$0.033. Credit packs from $1, one-time, no subscription. New accounts get 10 free credits — enough for about 3 short clips or 10 images — and failed generations are refunded automatically. Live prices are on the pricing page.

FAQ
How long should a TikTok UGC ad be?
Start with 15 seconds: it's enough for a hook, the product in use and a next step, and it's cheap to remake while you test hooks. Move to 20–30 seconds for a hook that already works, or for a product that needs one objection answered or a piece of proof.
What makes a good TikTok ad hook?
A face or the product in the first frame, and one short spoken line that names a specific problem or makes a specific claim. The common types are a question, a bold claim from your own facts, a relatable pain, curiosity and social proof. Write one of each and test them against each other.
Can I get a TikTok ad script written for free?
Yes. VIVID's free UGC ad script generator writes five hooks, a second-by-second 15- or 30-second script and a video prompt from a product description, without signing up.
Do I need a real creator to film the script?
Not necessarily. You can film it yourself, hire a UGC creator, or generate it with an AI video tool. AI is the fastest way to test several hooks; once a hook wins, you can also give the same script to a real creator.
How much does an AI UGC video ad cost?
On VIVID, a 5-second 480p clip costs about $0.045–$0.10 and a 15-second 720p clip about $0.45–$1.00, depending on the credit pack. There is no subscription, new accounts get 10 free credits, and failed generations are refunded automatically.
