How to make an Amazon product video with AI, in Amazon's exact specs
Updated October 2026
Amazon video works differently from Meta and TikTok. Its video ads are horizontal 16:9, they start muted, and Sponsored Products video drops the sound completely and rejects talking-head videos. So a phone-style UGC clip made for Reels usually can't be reused as is. What works on Amazon is a short, wide video of a person using the product, with the product large in the frame and the point clear without sound. This guide covers Amazon's current specs and how to make that kind of video with AI.
Step by step
- Step 1
Pick the placement first, because the rules differ
Sponsored Brands video (shown in search results) takes 6–45 second videos, and Amazon recommends 20 seconds or less; sound is allowed but the video autoplays muted. Sponsored Products video needs at least 7 seconds, and its audio is removed. Both take horizontal 16:9 only (Amazon lists vertical 9:16 for Sponsored Products as coming in 2026). A video on your product detail page needs Brand Registry and is uploaded in Seller Central; check the current requirements there before you make one.
- Step 2
Generate in 16:9, not 9:16
Cropping a vertical video to 16:9 throws away most of the frame, and Amazon rejects black or blurred bars on the sides. Generate the video horizontally from the start: in VIVID, choose 16:9, and describe the shot as "16:9, handheld smartphone-style video" so it still feels like a real person filmed it.
- Step 3
Show the product in use, large in the frame
For Sponsored Products, Amazon asks for the product to fill at least half the frame and prefers videos of a person using it; videos that rely on someone talking to camera are rejected. Describe hands-on actions and close-ups: "drops frozen strawberries into the blender bottle, presses the button, the smoothie spins". This kind of video also works for Sponsored Brands and the detail page.
- Step 4
Make it work without sound
Sponsored Brands videos start muted, and Sponsored Products videos have no sound at all. Show the benefit in the picture (before and after, the product working), and if a line of dialogue or a voiceover carries information, add it as a caption. Keep text and important details out of the lower-right corner, where Amazon places the mute button.
- Step 5
Convert the file to Amazon's specs
Sponsored Brands accepts 1280×720, 1920×1080 or 3840×2160, H.264 Main or Baseline profile, and audio at 44.1 kHz or higher. Most AI generators don't output exactly that; VIVID's 720p 16:9 video, for example, is 1344×768 with 32 kHz audio. One ffmpeg command fixes all of it: ffmpeg -i in.mp4 -vf "scale=1280:-2,crop=1280:720,setsar=1" -c:v libx264 -profile:v main -b:v 4M -c:a aac -ar 48000 -b:a 128k amazon.mp4. It resizes to 1280 wide, trims a few pixels top and bottom (no bars), and re-encodes the video and sound.
- Step 6
Keep it honest and on-brand
Use your real product (upload a product photo as a reference image), and don't show features it doesn't have. Don't present an AI person as a real customer giving a review. Keep the video in the marketplace's language, and avoid things Amazon commonly rejects: logos that aren't on the product, prices and discount claims, website addresses, and emojis in Sponsored Products videos.

Tips for testing
- Make two or three versions with different opening shots and run them in the same campaign; the first 2 seconds matter as much on Amazon as anywhere else.
- File names matter for Sponsored Products: Amazon asks for labeled file names, so name each file after the ASIN and the feature it shows.
- A short loop of the product in use, without dialogue, is the most reusable cut: it fits Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands and the detail page.
- If you also run Meta or TikTok ads, make a separate 9:16 version for those instead of reusing the 16:9 Amazon cut.
What it costs
With VIVID you pay per generation: a 5-second 480p clip is about $0.045–$0.10, a 15-second 720p clip about $0.45–$1.00, and an ad image about $0.015–$0.033. Credit packs from $1, one-time, no subscription. New accounts get 10 free credits — enough for about 3 short clips or 10 images — and failed generations are refunded automatically. Live prices are on the pricing page.

FAQ
Can I use AI-generated video in Amazon ads?
Amazon reviews every video ad against its creative acceptance policies, and its specs don't ban AI-made video. What gets videos rejected is the content: misleading claims, a product that doesn't match the listing, or bad formatting. Use your real product, show only what it actually does, and follow the specs above.
What size should an Amazon video ad be?
16:9. Sponsored Brands video accepts 1280×720, 1920×1080 or 3840×2160, 6–45 seconds long, MP4 or MOV, up to 500 MB. Sponsored Products video recommends 1920×1080, at least 7 seconds, and removes the audio.
Can I use a vertical TikTok or Reels video on Amazon?
Not as is. Amazon's video ad formats currently take 16:9 only and reject black bars, and Sponsored Products also rejects talking-head videos. Make a horizontal version of the same idea instead.
Do I need Brand Registry?
To upload a video to your product detail page, yes. Sponsored Brands ads are also limited to brand owners; check Amazon's current eligibility rules for Sponsored Products video in your ad console.
How much does an AI UGC video ad cost?
On VIVID, a 5-second 480p clip costs about $0.045–$0.10 and a 15-second 720p clip about $0.45–$1.00, depending on the credit pack. There is no subscription, new accounts get 10 free credits, and failed generations are refunded automatically.
