How much does an AI UGC video ad cost?

Updated October 2026

Prices for AI UGC ads are hard to compare because every tool charges differently: monthly plans with a set number of videos, credits that expire, per-minute billing, or pay per second of video. This guide puts them side by side as cost per finished video, then shows how to work out what a round of ad testing will cost you — which is the number that matters, since most hooks you test won't win.

VIVID prices are live from our credit packs. Other tools' prices come from public pricing pages and third-party reviews (checked October 2026) and change often, so check before you buy. On VIVID, a first test round of ten 10-second 720p clips — five hooks with a retry each — costs about $3.00–$6.67.

Step by step

  1. Step 1

Count the videos one test round needs

One winning ad usually comes from testing several. A small round is 3–5 hooks for one product, and you may want each in 9:16 and 4:5. Multiply it out: 5 hooks in one format is 5 finished videos per round, and you will probably run a new round every few weeks as ads fatigue.

  2. Step 2

Turn every price into cost per finished video

For a subscription, divide the monthly price by the videos you will actually use that month, not by the plan's maximum. Credits that expire at the end of the month count as spent. Check how length is billed too: some tools round every video up to a full minute, so a 15-second ad can cost as much as a 60-second one.

  3. Step 3

    Add the retries

AI video is not right on the first try every time: hands, product shape and text are the usual problems. Plan for one or two retries per keeper, so multiply the per-video price by 1.5–2. Tools that refund failed generations, or charge less for a short low-resolution draft, take some of the sting out of this.

  4. Step 4

Pick the length and resolution you actually need

A 10-second clip is enough for a first test: a 2-second hook, the product in use and one line of payoff. Draft hooks at a lower resolution to see which ideas work, then make the keepers at 720p or higher. Paying for 30-second, full-resolution renders of hooks you will throw away is where most of the cost hides.

  5. Step 5

Compare against the creator route honestly

A real creator brings things AI doesn't, like a real face your audience may recognise and genuine reviews. But at $100–300+ per video, a 5-hook test can cost $500–1,500 before you spend anything on ads, and changing a line means waiting for a reshoot. A common approach is to find the winning hook with cheap AI versions first, then brief a creator with it.

  6. Step 6

Keep most of the budget for ad spend

The video is only half of the cost of a test. Each variant needs enough spend to tell you something — often at least a few days at your normal daily budget. If making the ads costs more than running them, you will test fewer ideas, and testing more ideas is what finds winners.

Tips for testing

  • Write down cost per finished video for each tool you try, including retries. It is the only number that compares fairly across plans.
  • If you only make ads every few weeks, monthly credits that expire make a subscription much more expensive per video than its headline price.
  • Watch for per-minute billing: a 15-second ad billed as a full minute costs four times what it seems.
  • Re-use a winning scene: keep the setting and product, change only the hook line. It is the cheapest way to make a new variant.

What it costs

With VIVID you pay per generation: a 5-second 480p clip is about $0.045–$0.10, a 15-second 720p clip about $0.45–$1.00, and an ad image about $0.015–$0.033. Credit packs from $1, one-time, no subscription. New accounts get 10 free credits — enough for about 3 short clips or 10 images — and failed generations are refunded automatically. Live prices are on the pricing page.

FAQ

Is a subscription or pay-as-you-go cheaper for AI UGC ads?

It depends on how many videos you make. If you use all of a plan's videos every month, a subscription's cost per video can be reasonable. If you make ads in bursts, or test a few hooks at a time, paying per generation is usually cheaper because nothing expires unused.

How much does a real UGC creator charge?

Rates vary a lot by creator, niche and platform. Many smaller creators charge somewhere around $100–300 per video, experienced ones more, and usage rights, raw footage, extra hooks or whitelisting are often priced on top. Ask for these up front so you compare like with like.

Why do AI UGC tools differ so much in price per video?

They do different jobs. Avatar tools such as Arcads and MakeUGC have an AI actor read your script with lip-sync and are usually sold as monthly plans with a set number of videos. Scene generators such as VIVID create the whole shot — person, product, setting and sound — from a description and charge per second of video generated.

Are there hidden costs?

The common ones are retries, credits that expire at the end of the month, billing rounded up to a full minute, watermarks on free plans, and paying extra for higher resolution or commercial use. Check each before comparing headline prices.
